Does forum provide any opportunities to have other grant professionals review proposal drafts and provide critique and suggestions? This isn't my first rodeo, but the project I am working on currently is much larger than i've ever done before, and I could really use some input from my fellow colleagues in the grantwriting world. I'd love to connect with anyone interested in taking a look at my proposal draft as a favor. My email is davidhankins@breedlove.org if anyone is interested.
Also, what's the best method for getting a foot in the door with the Gates Foundation? I'm being pressured to send this particular proposal that direction. While I acknowledge that this project might be right up their alley, my understanding is that it's not very likely to get noticed unless you already have connections.
Thanks!!!

What type of proposal are you working on? You'll probably want to connect with someone that has experience with that particular application. Or is this a more general proposal template? If so, what mission focus is the project in? That info will help you connect with the right mentor.

It's a proposal that follows the "Grantsmanship Center's® proposal writing format" (/www.tgci.com).
I'm raising funds for the setup and startup of a major hunger relief and economic sustainability project in Ethiopia.
Permalink Reply by Barbara Vega on February 15, 2012 at 12:07pm I just now saw this - you've probably sent it on already. But if you'd like a critique, send me your email to my mailbox. I have a lot of experience with International Development-type grants - (gov't and foundation)
BTW yes Gates is hard to get into. Usually they seem to need a major research component to your project.
In general - with most foundations you need an insider. It's not just Gates.
Best,
