"Oh, I just saw this. Hmmm... Not getting notification that someone replied. Thanks Jesse! This is rather a sticky situations because it isn't the organization I work for but a partnering organization who hired a consultant."

Damage Control

Hello everyone!Question: How would one start damage control when working with a young foundation who had a person work for them who sent out blanket proposal to everyone regardless of guidelines, geographical locations or mission match. The Ed is getting some rude letters back and has asked me how to help.See More

Profile Information

What organization do you represent? (Please spell out any abbreviations, and include the website address of your organization if available, using the format: http://www.domainname.org)
Grant-it Consulting
What role do you play at your organization?
Grants Manager, Consultant
What are your specialties?
Grant writing, Grant reviews, Grants Management, Grant Preparedness, Trainings, RFP Development
How long have you been a grant writer?
11-15 years
Are you a part-time or full-time grant writer?
Full Time Grant Writer
To which professional fundraising or grant writer associations do you belong?
I am not currently a member of any organization. I was in the past but with the economy I had to cut expenses.
What is your greatest challenge in obtaining grants?
I believe the greatest challenge of obtaining grants is really getting to the heart of the organization's mission and finding uniqueness. So many nonprofits have started up after Katrina and they don't seem to be collaborating. I think this is weighing down the funders in my area by having to read so many proposals and also that everyone is writing grants now. The field is not as specialized as it used to be and everyone wants to assume the grantwriter roll without really having the knowledge of knowing what they are doing.
