I still have not forgotten about you. I've only gotten our contract issues straightened out this week with the proper wording for grant consultants, but I'm in the middle of two major grant projects but promise I will be in touch. I may see you at the conference on Monday.
I am in transition. I was a court reporter and corporate/transactional paralegal. Want to take all that knowledge and experience and consult to very small not for profit corporations. My definition of "very small" is under $250,000. Am finishing a series of classes at college that is filling in the gaps. In my volunteer work I am familiar and adept at volunteer management, outcome evaluation, event planning. Am very familiar with governance documents, maintenance and filing requirements. Lite on grantwriting! In my area there are nfp's that need my services because they are not large enough to be able to afford a full time employee doing those tasks.
Glad to be here! Do you and your client know the "evidence-based corrections" lingo? Very important out here in California...I assume the same back east... See: http://ucicorrections.seweb.uci.edu/
Melanie,
Thank you so much for your advice. I am going to join both organizations you suggested and I may take you up on your offer of advice when I get more things going.
Thanks again,
Kathy
Thanks for the welcome message, Melanie. I think this forum is a great idea. I don't have any specific questions just, but you'll certainly hear from me if I do!
Our theatre's website is www.romecapitol.com if you want to check it out. We're best know for classic and archival film but we also host and produce a lot of other activities as well--over 130 performances per year :D I hope I can add what I've learned through my arts organization experiences to the conversation.
Melanie,
Thanks for your comment. I would love to join the organization you mentioned, do you have a contact name and/or number? I can look them up otherwise.
I have just begun working with a community college and their foundation that works to keep emancipated foster youth in school. They are at the point where they would like me to investigate grant opportunities.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kathy Tillotson

Thanks for the welcome! I am "young" in the grantwriting world, but am eager to learn. Any resources you can suggest to get a really solid foundation?
Best regards,
Annette
